About this place
For a meal that lets you sample several small dishes, Hakushu’s assorted set is a natural choice. A diner who ordered it for lunch praised the flavours of the side dishes as well as the silky texture and depth of flavour of the tofu, which the restaurant highlights. It’s a good way to get a sense of Hakushu’s cooking while enjoying a varied meal.
If you would rather choose a more defined main, options include the assorted set with grilled fish (2,900 yen) and the assorted set with sashimi (3,400 yen). One diner who ordered the sashimi and small-dish combination also noted watching the chef prepare the sashimi in front of them. Choose the sashimi option when you want fish at the centre of the meal, or the grilled fish set when that better suits your mood.
The Senju Yuba Set (2,600 yen), featuring yuba—bean-curd skin—offers an alternative to meals centred on small dishes or fish. One diner who tried the yuba set enjoyed its individual hot pot and tempura, and said that adding a wheat-gluten bun left them full. For an even more substantial meal, there’s eel hitsumabushi rice or unaju (each 4,200 yen). A diner who ordered the hitsumabushi found the portion generous and satisfying for lunch.
Drinks include draft beer and lemon sour, as well as sake. The menu lists Fukuju, a junmai ginjo from Nada; Senkoma, a special junmai from Fukushima; and Kunimare, a honjozo from Hokkaido. You can compare the styles and regions when choosing. A tofu-focused set with small dishes may suit lunch, while fish or eel paired with sake makes another option for dinner.
